Famous Rodin Adam Bronze Sculpture Marble Nude Figure Figurine Reproduction
Total Dimensions: Height 21.5'' x Width 9'' Approximate Weight: 30 LBS Original Reproduction: ReproductionThis is a bronze replica of Auguste Rodin's 'Adam' sculpture. In 1880, Rodin proposed to Turquet, the Undersecretary for Fine Arts, to flank his 'Gates of Hell' by two colossal statues: Adam and Eve, the first sinners. The Gates of Hell is a monumental sculptural group that depicts a scene from "The Inferno", the first section of Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy written in the early 14th century. He had visited the two most famous versions of this subject: Masaccio's 'Adam and Eve' in Santa Maria Novella, Florence, and the Sistine Chapel in Rome with Michelangelo's frescos , featuring Adam reaching his hand out to God as the central scene. But being dissatisfied with his first outline of 'Adam', because he thought it too close to Michelangelo's style, he destroyed this first version.nbsp; Rodin made Adam look down instead of facing his Father-Creator. We understand this downward look as an expression of shame and guilt expressing the shame and remorse after the Fall to sin.nbsp; He is posed in a contrapposto but unnatural pose as though the feeling of remorse writhes his body. He was captures using the age-old method of lost wax casting and finished with brown patina stain. Adam is mounted upon a black marble base with the European Bronze Finery stamp of quality and the artist Rodin's signature. François-Auguste-René Rodin (12 November 1840 – 17 November 1917), known as Auguste Rodin was a French sculptor. Although Rodin is generally considered the progenitor of modern sculpture, he did not set out to rebel against the past. He was schooled traditionally, took a craftsman-like approach to his work, and desired academic recognition, although he was never accepted into Paris's foremost school of art. From the unexpected realism of his first major figuremdash; inspired by his 1875 trip to Italymdash; to the unconventional memorials whose commissions he later sought, Rodin's reputation grew, such that he became the preeminent French sculptor of his time. By 1900, he was a world-renowned artist.
This Dueling Stallions sculpture is simply over the top beautiful!! The details are just amazing in every possible way. I'm a horse lover and this was a perfect addition to my bronze horse collection.
This was not my first purchase from Bronzhaus. I've actually made many purchases from Bronzhaus and the sculptures are all outstanding, shipped FAST and always extremely well packed.
It is very good quality, and a very cool gift for any admirer of Dali. It was an anniversary gift for my wife and she loves it!
Beautiful bronze. I prefer it to the sculptures of Fredrick Remington.
Milo's sculptures are full bodied and breath taking. I now own several Milo's and have never been disappointed.
Loved the large cat, cougar bronze, I have purchased several bronzes and have been pleased with all of them.
Just as I expected. Detailed. Have another by same artist: J. Moigniez
I really like this painting/sculpture. Perfect for the spot I envisioned it for. Good size, tricky to hang but we always have problems hanging our pictures. It is all metal which is fine with me. Beautiful colors, warm, reminding me od Fall my favorite season. The ballerina looks on the picture as if she was pinkish but the color changes depending on the light it can be beige or slightly pinkish. Very pretty.
Exquisitely made, facial and hair details impressive, a very nice addition to my Indian collection, overall a great buy. This is my second Indian Bust from this company. I have 10 total bronze bust
The sculpture is gorgeous. Great service. Great quality and service.
The piece is very lovely, I'm very happy I got it.
We love it.
I purchased this because I thought it looked like my gf. I’m very pleased with the erotic statue and the company I purchased it from.
When I first saw this one, I knew I had to have it. It's even nicer looking in person.
Great work of sexual art. Well done.
What material are your sculptures made out of?
All of our sculptures are made from100% hot cast bronze, and handmade in the ancient lost wax casting method. We never sell cheap cold cast sculptures or resins!
What is the difference between hot cast and cold cast bronzes?
Hot cast bronze is created by pouring a molten metal mixture into a mold. Before the metal can be poured, our artists must first create the mold on a medium such as clay, rubber, or wood. Each mold allows for a limited number of pours, and therefore a limited amount of sculptures can be created in any given round of production before the mold is destroyed and the artist must create a new mold.
Cold cast is actually made from resins and plastics which are painted over. They are cheaper, lighter, and less durable.
Generally speaking, hot cast bronzes are very time consuming and limited in their production, whereas cold cast resins can be mass produced and are inexpensive to create.
