This old elk takes a rest from the summer’s day heat in a cool grassy area. He lies down and reaches his massive head around his back to scratch and itch that has been bothering him. He is old and his coat is long and shaggy. He looks as if he has roamed the land for many years and knows the safe havens of his forest well. This is a touching bronze piece that depicts the old elk taking a rest yet you can sense the vibe of a struggle as with his age he cannot move like he used to. His antlers are massive and definitely draw attention. This is an intricate and delicate piece consisting of many tedious man hours to create the cast. This sculpture was cast using the “Lost Wax Method” and has a gorgeous brown patina. It is mounted on beveled marble base and is signed by the artist Milo.
