Lady Justice and Blind Justice are the names associated with the feminine image Themis, the goddess of Greek Mythology epitomizing the virtue of Justice. She holds the "Sword of Truth" in one hand to represent power and lifts her scales in the other, displaying impartiality. She is blindfolded to assure fairness in judgment, which calls to the old sacred ideals of law practices. She stands barefoot on the book of law, while a snake slithers up her side. Though it peers up at her menacingly, trying to hinder her, she is not effected. This would make a great inspiring gift for lawyers, judges, anyone who aspires to work in law. 100% bronze and handmade, this brown patina sculpture was cast using the "Lost Wax Method" and mounted on a black marble base and is signed Mayer.
