An awe-inspiring sculpture of "The Descent from the Cross" also known as "The Deposition of Christ." Taken from the account of John 19:38-42, Joseph of Arithmea and Nicodemus as well as other followers of Christ remove Jesus` body from the cross upon his pronounced death. As his body is lifted off the cross by the hands of adoration and devotion gently carry his body. Saint Mary, his mother, mourns at the bottom. The background of the sculpture show swirls of clouds. This is a spiritual and beautiful piece designed with care using the lost wax method. It is a wall plaque, perfect for rooms and hallways. The piece is signed by the artist Jean Patoue.
