The mare and foal stand in the high grasses of a meadow at the dusk of day. The foal rubs her neck along her mothers in gesture of love as the subtle hint of smile finds itself on both their mouths. The artist left the mother`s hide somewhat textured to depict age while the young horse has a more refined, smooth surface. Serving man in war, mobility, productivity, agriculture, development of all kinds, the horse is by far one of the largest contributor to the enhancement of our civilization. With such recognition and accomplishments, a vast and diverse trail of symbol meanings is sure to follow the horse?s rich history with humankind. Some that are seen in this sculpture are power, grace, beauty, nobility, strength and freedom. The bronze handmade sculpture was cast using the age-old method of lost-wax casting and stained with a brown patina finish for preservation. It is mounted upon a black marble base with the artist P.J. Mene`s signature.
