The Spartan Warrior Description:This is a bronze statue of an ancient greek warrior signed by E. Drouot (French, 1859–1945). Cast in a deep brown patina. It depicts a proud warrior on bended knee after a victory in battle. He salutes his country in exultation with his spear held high. The intricacies of his chainmail garment and breastplate in addition to the fine details of his helmet and shield down to the delicate patterns of his sandals ascending up to his shin greaves contribute to this piece`s intense regal demeanor. It`s definitelty one of a kind. About the Artist: Edouard Drouot, born in Sommevoire, France, April 3, 1859; deceased in Paris May 22, 1945. (He is described amply in "The Dictionary of Sculptors" by Pierre Kjellberg. His exhibitions at the Salon began in 1889 Born in Sommevoire, Drouot studied in Paris under Emile Thomas and Mathurin Moreau, working as both a genre painter and sculptor. He was awarded a medal at the Salon of 1892 and an honorable mention at the Universal Exposition of 1900.Drouot had a vast repertory, a variety of themes, and a sense of movement and expression which made this artist an outstanding member of the sculpture community at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th Century.

What material are your sculptures made out of?

All of our sculptures are made from100% hot cast bronze, and handmade in the ancient lost wax casting method. We never sell cheap cold cast sculptures or resins!

What is the difference between hot cast and cold cast bronzes?

Hot cast bronze is created by pouring a molten metal mixture into a mold.  Before the metal can be poured, our artists must first create the mold on a medium such as clay, rubber, or wood.  Each mold allows for a limited number of pours, and therefore a limited amount of sculptures can be created in any given round of production before the mold is destroyed and the artist must create a new mold.

Cold cast is actually made from resins and plastics which are painted over. They are cheaper, lighter, and less durable.

Generally speaking, hot cast bronzes are very time consuming and limited in their production, whereas cold cast resins can be mass produced and are inexpensive to create.
