This sculpture focuses on the face of an elephant, mainly his long, pronounced trunk. Elephants are ubiquitous in Western popular culture as emblems of the exotic because their unique appearance and size sets them apart from other animals. Elephants are a symbol of wisdom in Asian cultures and are famed for their memory and intelligence. This rust colored patina was cast using the "lost wax method." It sits on a marble base and is signed Milo.
