This magnificent bronze bust captures the fierce and spiritual resilience of a Native American warrior chief. With piercing eyes and a bold, wild expression, the chief exudes a powerful presence that commands attention. His hair is adorned with braids wrapped in strips of deer hide and coated in a stunning turquoise patina. A long feather at the back of his hair stretches towards the sky, also finished in turquoise patina. The chief wears a bone breastplate, a popular chest ornament and symbol of wealth and prestige among Native American warriors. The number of hair-pipe bones in the plate reflected the warrior's wealth, as these bones were difficult and expensive to obtain. Although they provided little protection in battle, the breastplates were prized as decorative and medicine items. Expertly crafted using the ancient lost-wax casting method, this exquisite bronze bust is a testament to the artist's skill and attention to detail. The skin tones are finished in a rich brown patina stain for preservation, adding depth and warmth to the sculpture's natural beauty. The bust is mounted on a sleek black marble base, adding a touch of elegance to this already stunning piece. It is signed by the renowned artist C.
