This is a captivating bronze study of the beautiful ballet dancer Natacha Nattova and a depiction of the dance she performed in front of a Prussian Prince who was so captivated that he asked to marry her. When you look over the sculpture and the depth and warmth of the patina meet your eye, it sends a sense of calmness and gracefulness. It’s almost as if the sculpture is a picture of a lullaby in still motion. She points her toe, carefully and gracefully she turns her body, even her fingers are positioned in a polite manner. Her beautifully proportioned body is accented by the ballet dress she wears. Creasing with gravity and fluid movement, the bodice is similar to a corset adorned with beautiful roses by her left shoulder. The skirt is wide and flowing at the hips giving nice dimension to the dancer. On her feet she wears ballet slippers that criss- cross around her ankles and tie. Her hair is tied back split into pigtails and tied up again into such fine proper buns. Her face has delicate features, with high cheeks bones, a small pointy nose, wide innocent accepting eyes and a smile that cannot be forgotten, it’s no wonder why the prince asked for her hand in marriage. You will find the artist signature in the base of the sculpture. The bronze sculpture has a brown patina and is mounted on a round circular marble base and signed by artist Collet.
