This is a beautiful bronze sculpture of a Philly and a colt. The Philly stands majestically in front of the colt; he is a fully grown and has amazing muscle tone and height and also has great detail on his body and face. The colt stands half his size, still a little wobbly on his new legs, his mane falls slick against his neck as it hasn't grown in fully yet. The ground is detailed with tree stumps and shrubbery. He playfully follows the colt around as if he is the annoying little brother. The facial expressions that both of this horses express are precious as well as moving, making them feel lifelike. This is a handmade sculpture and is 100% bronze with a brown patina. Cast using the ancient "Lost Wax Method" it stands on a solid black marble base. The bronze base that sculpture sits on has a gorgeously detailed trim that meets at the marble base. This sculpture is signed by the artist Milo. World famous sculptor "Milo" is the artistic partner of the Lynn Forbes School of Sculpture-and is offering an exclusive signature in the wax of every piece of his items, which are Custom Cast with European Bronze Finery. In effect it makes EACH SCULPTURE an ORIGINAL since each one is different than the next (similar to a Limited Edition). Again, Milo-our partner-IS THE ORIGINAL SCULPTOR of this incredible work of art. Milo was born in Paris in 1939; Milo lived most of his childhood in Andalusia, Spain. Influenced by an artistic family background, he began sculpting at the age of seventeen. After apprenticing with several accomplished sculptors both in America and Spain, he began his own work focusing equally on steel and bronze. Horses and other animals were a natural direction of his work to follow. As a child he was surrounded by horses and witnessing the fighting bulls of Spain gave him an instinct for the inherent drama of these animals. Combining a special cement mixture with steel has allowed him the fluidity of metal with the timelessness of stone. This process enables him to capture the essence of the animal's nature. The characteristic rough texture and movement of line make Milo work easily identifiable in both cement and bronze.

FAQ's

What material are your sculptures made out of?

All of our sculptures are made from100% hot cast bronze, and handmade in the ancient lost wax casting method. We never sell cheap cold cast sculptures or resins!

What is the difference between hot cast and cold cast bronzes?

Hot cast bronze is created by pouring a molten metal mixture into a mold.  Before the metal can be poured, our artists must first create the mold on a medium such as clay, rubber, or wood.  Each mold allows for a limited number of pours, and therefore a limited amount of sculptures can be created in any given round of production before the mold is destroyed and the artist must create a new mold.

Cold cast is actually made from resins and plastics which are painted over. They are cheaper, lighter, and less durable.

Generally speaking, hot cast bronzes are very time consuming and limited in their production, whereas cold cast resins can be mass produced and are inexpensive to create.

Do you do custom work?

Custom work is available in some cases.  Please contact us with the details of the job.

Can I sell you one of my own pieces?

Unfortunately, we do not buy pieces from the public.  To ensure the highest quality, we only sell brand new pieces that we commission ourselves, or buy directly from artists and manufacturers we know and trust.
