The Young girl holds a long staff with which to guide the sheep's, and yet is clearly distracted from her duties. Her youthfulness is evident from her tiny frame and awkward pose. The sculpture was made at a time when there were concerns in the countryside about the decline of the agricultural labor force, as workers left the fields and sought prosperity in the cities.This sculpture was casted using the “Lost Wax Method” and has a brown patina. It is handmade and sits on a marble base. This sculpture is signed by the artist Moreau.
