This bronze sculpture depicts the late Reza Shah Pahlavi, a visionary leader of Iran who desired to establish a secular republic and modernize the country. Originally an army officer, Reza Khan rose to become the shah of Iran (1925-41) and embarked on a mission to regenerate his nation. He envisioned a government free of corruption and the influence of religion, with a president elected by the people. Sadly, the traditional institutions of Persian society, such as the monarchy, feudalism, and Shiite mullahs, prevented Reza Khan from realizing his dream of a democratic Iran. Their resistance eventually led to the rise of the theocratic dictatorship of the Islamic Republic of Iran in 1979. This sculpture is a tribute to Reza Khan's ideals and his struggle against the forces of oppression. Cast using the ancient "Lost Wax Method," this bronze sculpture is finished with a brown patina for preservation and mounted on a marble base. Every detail of the sculpture is handmade, and it is signed by the artist, Fisher. This sculpture is a must-have for history enthusiasts and those who admire Reza Khan's contributions to Iran's modernization.
