Lady Godiva (Old English: Godgifu, fl. 1040–1067) was an Anglo-Saxon noblewoman whose story has been told and retold for centuries. According to legend, she was moved by her Christian faith and compassion for the people of Coventry, accepting a challenge from her husband: if she rode naked through the streets, he would cancel the oppressive taxes he imposed on his tenants. This act of bravery and selflessness became one of the most enduring tales of medieval England. This exquisite bronze sculpture captures the spirit of Lady Godiva’s legendary ride. With meticulous craftsmanship, the artist has recreated the timeless story in fine detail, celebrating both her courage and her grace. The piece stands as a symbol of strength, sacrifice, and compassion. Handmade and 100% bronze, the sculpture was cast using the ancient “Lost Wax Method” and finished with a rich brown patina for preservation. Mounted atop a solid black marble base, this museum-quality artwork is signed by the artist Richter Wolf, making it a truly remarkable collectible.
