The mother bear has taken her young cub the steep slopes of a mountainside to teach it to forage for a meal. With her powerful foreleg, she pries back a heavy stone, revealing edible moths and grubs to her offspring. The young one looks on learning his life lesson while clinging to a rock that does not budge. The bronze sculpture was captured using the age-old method of lost-wax casting and stained with a brown patina finish for preservation. It is mounted upon a black marble base with the artist Russelle. signature.
