Proudly, the matador stands in the arena and awaits the bull. After his assistants, the Picadors and the Banderillero, have weakened the bull, he will step up to it and with one single stab of his rapier, give it the mortal blow. The bronze sculpture for sale here captures the moment in which the matador presents himself to the audience right before the fight. It is modeled after a painting by Fernando Botero that he created at the end of the 20th century. Bull fights had a special impact on Botero's life, one which he processed with the painting of the matador. This contemporary art sculpture of the bull fighter gives that painting an additional dimension and honors the work of the artist Botero. This bronze statue is cast by hand and, just like all of the other bronze products in our shop, is subject to our strict quality guidelines during its production. Additionally, all of our sculptures are created by using the lost wax technique and are made of 100% bronze. The painting of the bull fighter was created by Fernando Botero (born 19th April 1932 in Medellin). He is one of the most famous visual artists of Latin America. He was born into modest surroundings in 1932. Already at the age of 12, he began working with paints and brushes. When he was 16, he participated in his first exhibition. Soon after, he moved to Europe in order to make his art a success. He achieved this with his extraordinary and by now world famous style. The overdrawn proportions are his trademark which makes his works stand out. Sculptures by Botero coined the city escapes all over Europe.
