The bronze horse bucks onto its hind legs resisting a force the beholder cannot see. The horse kicks his forelegs into the air as he lets out a authoritative neigh of discontent. It balances upon a sphere that is decorated with dragon-like legs. Serving man in war, mobility, productivity, agriculture, development of all kinds, the horse is by far one of the largest contributor to the enhancement of our civilization. With such recognition and accomplishments, a vast and diverse trail of symbol meanings is sure to follow the horse’s rich history with humankind. Some that are seen in this sculpture are power, grace, beauty, nobility, strength and freedom. The sculpture was cast using the age-old method of lost-wax casting and stained with a brown patina finish for perpetuation. He is mounted upon a bronze plinth with the artist Barye`s signature.
